Paying a Living Wage to Lay Employees: Practical Guidance for Parishes in The Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut
Published by Ronald Steed,
My Deacon-Postulant class in the Episcopal Diocese of CT (with Elaine Sleath and Ned Lewis) studied the living wage issue as part of our coursework on Christian Ethics. I'm happy to share the results of that study with you. As many of you know, the living wage is a complex issue, and while many institutions advocate for it (including The Episcopal Church and my Diocese, the Episcopal Chruch in Connecticut), few may understand how variable it is by geographic location and by household size. This paper offers a practical approach ("tuned" for our Diocese, but certainly applicable to others) for Parishes to engage with the issue and find a way to live within the spirit of the living wage movement.
Happy to answer any questions you may have...
